In only two months, I am up 10 pounds, and I have been sick quite a bit as of late. I am also getting cravings for things that I can normally avoid with ease. Oy!

Those 10 pounds are making for a bit of a roll around my midsection, which is NOT helped by the fact that the last few times that I have found jeans, they are too low rise for my taste to begin with.

I need to get back to rolling along the straight and narrow, dietarily. I also really NEED to start exercising soon. That would help jump-start the weight loss, and it would help me to stay on track food wise as well.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://marblestogo.blogspot.com/2008/11/oy-rolls-of-marbles.html' title='Oy! For my body, a controlled carbohydrate lifestyle simply works. I can eat, and not gain, in fact, I lose weight. I have been consciously working on the input side of things since April 1st, 2008. As of August 5th, I am down 42.5 pounds. That's not too bad, and I am not suffering either.

By eating a controlled carbohydrate diet, I also gain control over some medical issues as well. I get far fewer migraines by keeping the blood sugars in check. Keeping my blood sugar down by avoiding grains and simple starches and sugars, I also drastically reduce the frequency and severity of my Menieres disease symptoms.

I discovered the disease control quite by accident years ago. I had wanted to go back to controlled carbohydrate eating, as I feel so much better on this way of life.

I've read many controlled carbohydrate lifestyle books. From a cursory glance, my diet is strongly Atkins influenced, but there are elements of
The Carbohydrate Addicts
The Schwarzbein Principle
Good Calories, Bad Calories
Fats that Heal, Fats that Kill
Know Your Fats
Eat Fat, Lose Fat
The Coconut Oil Miracle
Protein Power

I often, but don't always use FitDay. I can get a bit OCD, leaning toward eating disorders behavior when I play with FitDay too much. From using it I have learned that I do lose best when about 75% of my calories come from fat, which rather throws the low fat, high carbhydrate world for a loop!

Losing some marbles...

Holding other marbles more tightly....

I've been actively trying to lose weight and get in shape for a few months. I have lost 42.5 pounds since April 1st, so I am doing pretty well thus far. I have needed to get on the exercise side for a while, and I just hadn't done anything consistently. I just joined the One Hundred Push Up Challenge. Let's see if I can stay with this in order to finish. I have developed mushy triceps, and they are revolting, and I am going to firm them up!

I challenge you to give it a shot, and join me in this! If your current strength or weight will not allow you to lift your full body mass, start with modified push ups, be it from the knees, or even wall push ups if you are really in need of toning! Once you start with the wall push ups, you will get strong enough for the push ups from the knees. After you get used to the push ups from the knees, you can migrate to the classic push ups! If you have never seen wall push ups, here you go:

Do you figure that you can swing these? I think that you can. You are still working a good number of muscles, and it beats saying, "oh, I never could do push ups..." Give these an honest try, you won't be sorry, and your body WILL change.

I have been doing one exercise pretty consistently
lately. I have been doing squats. I use an electric toothbrush with a timer. I have been doing squats the whole time that I brush my teeth, so for 2 minutes, I have been sneaking squats into my daily routine. I don't use a chair, but the small graphic that I found, she uses a chair.
